Recreation Therapy Supervisor
Job Description: Southside Virginia Training Center (SVTC), a residential facility located near Petersburg, VA, is recruiting for a Recreation Therapy Supervisor. SVTC’s primary mission is to provide quality, person-centered health and habilitative services to individuals with intellectual disabilities. In pursuing the person-centered approach, staff from various disciplines work as a team with the individual and his/her authorized representative to address the individual needs, goals, choices and preferences.
This evening-shift position: provides planning, coordination, and evaluation of Recreation Therapy Departmental Supports for individuals supported; responsible for managing the activities of professional staff in the provision of recreation supports; develops and implements training modules, assesses staff training needs, assists in the preparation and monitoring of departmental budget and serves as consultant and liaison on matters related to recreation and leisure supports; evaluates the skills, abilities and interests of individuals to determine their individual/therapeutic needs; develops and supervises implementation of therapeutic and individualized outcome based plans; provides opportunities for individuals to participate in activities on and off campus; oversees and coordinates Welfare Budget and PFA expenditures for ordering and securing therapeutic and age appropriate materials and equipment for programs and activities; and serves as member of the Interdisciplinary Team for assigned individuals.
Requirements: Must have: strong supervisory and program monitoring background; knowledge of therapeutic recreational activities, their development and implementation for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities; ability to manage employees, work independently and within a team setting. A B.S./B.A. degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation Therapy or related field is also required.
Recreation Therapy or Therapeutic Recreation Therapy Certification preferred. Experience with management of professional and para-professional staff, working with individuals with intellectual /developmental disabilities in therapeutic recreational activities, and developing / monitoring program supports for special populations is also preferred. A valid driver’s license is a plus.
Salary Range: $31,352.00 minimum, Pay Band 4

Part Time Therapist

Qualifications: Recreation Therapist, Music Therapist,
Art Therapist, or Movement Therapist. Must be appropriately

Hours: Weekend hours, with regular schedule are available.

The Schulman and Schachne Institute for Nursing and Rehabilitation
is looking to fill a full-time temporary position, with
either one full time or two part-time temporary employees,
in a job sharing arrangement.
This positions will run until 1/8/08, and the population
assignment is with our geriatric service.
We are a large Therapeutic Recreation Department with
a staff of 16, including Music Therapists, a Drama Therapist,
as well as CTRS's. The position offers an excellent opportunity
for new entry, or re-entry.
Our populations include: Subacute care, Geriatric care,
Ventilator Dependent, AIDS care, with both an AIDS Dementia
Unit and Alzheimer's and related dementias Unit Certified
or eligible. Salary scale is based on education and experience.
