SNOEZELEN (seminar description)

“SNOEZELEN: A Sensational Experience” is designed to inform and educate health care professionals of the benefits and implementation of SNOEZELEN, a multi-sensory program, for the elderly population. This session includes an introduction and overview of the SNOEZELEN program, how the Therapeutic Recreation A.P.I.E. (Assessment, Plan the Program, Implement the Program, and Evaluate the Program) applies, and equipment considerations. Students will also be provided with hands-on exercises and be given a tour of the facility’s SNOEZELEN or Multi-sensory Room

Participants will be able to:

1) Name 3 benefits of the SNOEZELEN program
2) Name 3 ways in which SNOEZELEN can be used with the elderly
3) Discuss and utilize at least one facilitation technique in each of the senses.
