An Interdisciplinary Approach to Quality Of Life In-Service ($16)

This 60 minute in-service is designed to assist the Recreation Director, Activity Director, or Staff Educator, in educating health-care providers in your facility, about the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to quality of life, especially in relation to the CMS guidelines. This in-service will help you "break down the silos" in your facility and create a person-centered environment.

FOR ENTIRE STAFF !

Participants will be able to:

      *recognize the importance of quality of life issues.
      *identify benefits of meaningful activities to residents.
      *describe the role of the Recreation/Activity Department.
      *discuss interdisciplinary quality of life strategies.

Meaningful Quality of Life In-Service ($16)

This 60 minute in-service is designed to assist the Recreation Director, Activity Director or Staff Educator in providing an overview of One to One meaningful activities as it pertains to older adults and elders. Many one to one programs are presented. This is a wonderful inservice for all staff and volunteers.

Participants will be able to:

  • define one to one activities
  • state at least 5 benefits of one to one activities
  • discuss at least 6 one to one activity ideas

Sensory Stimulation: Tips and Techniques Staff In-Service ($20)

This 60-90 minute in-service is designed to assist the Recreation Director or Staff Educator in providing an overview, as well as tips and techniques of sensory stimulation as it pertains to older adults and elders.

This in-service comes with a handout, teacher's outline, certificate of attendance, in-service sign in sheet, flyer to announce the in-service, an interactive exercise, and an in-service evaluation form.


For sake of time, the educator may wish to split this into 2 or 3 sessions.

Participants will be able to:

*identify residents who would benefit from sensory stimulation.
*identify the A.P.I.E. process and how it relates to sensory stimulation.
*discuss and utilize at least one facilitation technique in each of the following senses: visual, tactile, auditory, olfactory, gustatory, and kinesthetic.
*recognize resident responses to various forms of stimuli.
*complete a theme-related sensory planning guide.

Never Too Old to Learn Staff In-Service ($20)

This 60-90 minute in-service is designed to assist the Recreation Director or Staff Educator in providing an overview of educational activities as it pertains to older adults and elders.

This in-service comes with a handout, teacher's outline, certificate of attendance, in-service sign in sheet, flyer to announce the in-service, an interactive exercise, and an in-service evaluation form.



For sake of time, the educator may wish to split this into 2 or 3 sessions.

Participants will be able to:

*identify 3 or more benefits of educational activities for the elderly.
*discuss 3 or more characteristics of the older learner.
*identify various physical, cognitive and social barriers to learning that the elderly may encounter.
*identify at least 10 educational activities for the elderly in the long term care or other geriatric setting.

This 60 minute in-service is designed to assist the Recreation or Activity Director in providing an overview of Leisure Education as utilized with older adults and elders.
