It can be quite a shock to go from being an assistant or therapist to becoming a manager. Just because we are great at facilitating activities doesn't mean we are ready to jump into management. Often times, Activity and Recreation Directors have difficulty balancing management responsibilities with quality resident time. Heck, we got into this profession because we love spending time with the seniors and residents, and we prefer to not be tied up in meetings or drowning in paperwork.
